The Governor of Svalbard asks drivers of snow scooters and everyone moving about out in the field to report all snow avalanches, including any slides they may have released themselves.

- We request information on snow avalanches, even in cases where no one has been caught or injured as a result of the slide. The reason for this is that we want to avoid unnecessary search and rescue operations, says Police Chief Superintendent Ole Jacob Malmo.

The risk of snow avalanches is still high. The Governor of Svalbard reminds everyone to be careful and take precautions when they are out in the field.
