The Governor of Svalbard has terminated the agreement with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The Norwegian Public Road Administration has therefore entered into an agreement with the Svalbard tax office to perform their services in Svalbard. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration will move its office to the tax office next week.

The new address is Statens hus at road 227-2 in Longyearbyen (the old post and bank building). Before Christmas, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration is open on Tuesday 13 December and Wednesday 14 December between 08.00-15.30. The first opening day after Christmas is Tuesday 10 January.

Appointments from New Year

After the New Year, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration will open appointments online, but until Christmas customers can come in during opening hours. Those who are going to take a theory test or want to book an appointment can send an e-mail to rn.skranke.svalbard@vegvesen.no

Customers can pay by bank card (debit card), but not by cash or credit card.

Self-service

From 21 November, residents and dealers on Svalbard could use several self-service solutions at vegvesen.no. Dealers can register new and used vehicles themselves, and residents can de-register and re-register vehicles themselves online

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has updated the sales notice digitally for Svalbard. You therefore do not need to contact the Norwegian Public Roads Administration after you have submitted a notice of sale.

Annual vehicle inspection

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration will update opening hours and information about the offer in Svalbard on the website Svalbard service office | Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
